7,547: Mets top Rays, another great start for Nieve

Mets top Rays

Fernando Nieve provided a strong start and Brian Schneider hit a three-run homer Friday night to lead the Mets to a 5-3 win over the Tampa Bay Rays.

Nieve lost his no-hitter in the third inning when Dioner Navarro singled to left, making it 7,547 New York Mets games without a no-no.

Daniel Murphy went 3-for-4 on the night, and Ryan Church was 2-for-3.

K-Rod got his 18th save, a day after blowing his second of the season, although we all know we can’t fault him for No. 1.
