It’s a long shot, but the Mets are going to appeal B.J. Upton’s 1st inning infield single off R.A. Dickey, arguing that David Wright should have been charged with an error. If the Mets appeal is upheld, Dickey will have the 2nd no-hitter in Mets history. Again, I doubt much that MLB will uphold the Mets’ appeal.

You should start a new section continuing the countdown until we finally get a LEGIT no-hitter. Sure, human error is part of the game, but would Met fans be saying that if it were the reverse (a foul ball called fair) with two outs in the 9th? Love Santana and the Mets, bu tin my mind, we’re still searching for that first TRUE no-hitter. Would love to see a countdown continued toward that.
Based on that criteria, the count ended at 3,643 when Doc Gooden no-hit the Chicago Cubs on Sept. 7, 1984 thanks to a key Ray Knight error on a 5th-inning Keith Moreland slow roller.
