The Giants franchise, which began as the New York Gothams before becoming the New York Giants in 1895, moved to California in 1958 to become the San Francisco Giants. The franchise has 17 no-hitters during its history.

Amos Rusie threw the team’s first no-hitter in 1891, and Christy Mathewson (New York) and Tim Lincecum (San Francisco) are the only two Giants to throw two no-hitters each. Both of Lincecum’s have come against the San Diego Padres, making him the first major league pitcher to no-hit the same team twice since the Cleveland Naps’ Addie Joss did it in 1908 and 1910 against the Chicago White Sox.

Matt Cain threw the Giants’ only perfect game on June 13, 2012, against the Houston Astros.
