Mets minor league/spring training no-hitters
- March 21,1965 – Gary Kroll and Gordy Richardson combined for a nine-inning no-hitter during a 6-0 spring training game in St. Petersburg. Glenn in Troy notes a picture on page 30 of the 1965 Mets yearbook of Richardson throwing a pitch in the ninth inning and another of Kroll and Richardson getting congratulations from the Mets front office brass the following day.

Your Minor League page needs to include the no-hitter thrown by Gaby Hernandez for the Hagerstown Suns of the South Atlantic League in 2005. I think 2005 was the last year the Mets were affiliated with the Suns before they shifted their Low-A affiliation to the Savannah Sand Gnats.
Here are two references to the game:

The Mets almost no hit the Yankees when they met in the Mayor’s Trophy game in 1971. The Mets carried 1-0 lead and a no hitter into the 8th inning but it was broken up by Frank Baker who had all of 7 hits for the Yankees in 1971. Yankees would score two runs in the ninth to win the game 2-1 before 50,000+ fans at Shea Stadium.
Interesting. I miss the old Mayor’s Trophy Games, but interleague kind of killed that. They should declare one of the games in the series each year the Mayor’s Trophy game (alternate the ballpark each year) to give it some extra hype.
The Trophy Game was killed off about a decade before interleague play. Originally the game was played in August or September and drew large crowds at Shea and Yankee Stadiums. But by the late 1970′s the teams really did not care to play the game anymore so it was moved early in the season and interest in it disappeared.
The Yankees and Mets did play a 2 game preseason series at both stadiums in 1989 that drew large crowds but it was never repeated.
I heard that Tidewater pitched a no-hitter against the Mets in a Spring Training game in 1982 or 1983. Ron Darling and Rick Aguillera were among the pitchers who pitched for the Tides.
