Bring out the brooms

Jeff Francouer hit a three-run game-tying homer and Angel Pagan scored the winning run on a double play Sunday as the Mets completed a three-game sweep of the Florida Marlins with a 7-6 victory.

It was the Mets’ eighth straight home victory.

Mets’ starter Hisanori Takahashi took his no-hitter into the fourth inning, one the squad’s deeper outings, but gave it up on a Dan Uggla home run for the 7,701st Mets game with no no-no. Though Takahashi looked good early, he wound up giving up five runs on six hits and two walks in 5 1/3 innings of work.

Pagan was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Francoeur was 2-for-4 with his three RBIs coming off that single crack of the bat in the seventh inning.

Chris Carter also had an RBI with a pinch-hit single in the sixth.

With the game tied at six in the eighth and runners at first-and-third, Marlins Manager Fredi Gonzalez decided to play for the double play. Ike Davis complied, and Pagan was able to score what was to be the winning run.

Wild ending

Santana lost his no-hitter in the second inning on a single by Ross, bumping our NoNoHitters.com count up to 7,679 New York Mets games with no no-no.
