Main also pitched briefly for the Detroit Tigers (1914) and the Philadelphia Phillies (1915).

Bill Hawke threw the first no-hitter at the current 60-foot-6-inch pitching distance, 122 years ago today.

Hawke, a starter for the National League Baltimore Orioles, no-hit the NL Washington Senators on Wednesday, August 16, 1893 at Boundary Field. It was the first no-no since the National League extended the distance from 50 feet. The league also eliminated the pitching box in favor of a 12-inch-by-4-inch pitching rubber.
