The Seattle Mariners threw a combined no-hitter, three years ago today.
Kevin Millwood was forced to leave the June 8, 2012 game with a groin injury after pitching six innings of no-hit ball. Five relievers finished out the no-no as the Mariners topped the Los Angeles Dodgers 1-0 at Safeco Field:
- Charlie Furbush (2/3 inn.)
- Stephen Pryor (1/3 inn.)
- Lucas Luetge (1/3 inn.)
- Brandon League (2/3 inn)
- Tom Wilhelmsen (1 inn.)
The combined performance tied a record for most pitchers used in a no-hitter (Houston Astros vs. New York Yankees, June 11, 2003). The Mariners’ no-no came a week after Johan Santana threw the first no-hitter in New York Mets history, breaking a 50-plus-year, 8,019 game streak.
