Johan Ramon “Ervin” Santana threw a Los Angeles Angels no-hitter against the Cleveland Indians four years ago today.

Santana, who took the new first name of Ervin in 2003 to avoid sharing the same name with the then Minnesota Twins pitcher, threw his gem on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 for a 3-1 win at Jacobs Field.

Also throwing a no-hitter on this date, 130 years ago, is the Chicago White Stockings John Clarkson. Clarkson on Monday, July 27, 1885 no-hit the Providence Grays at Messer Street Grounds for a 4-0 victory.
