Happy 47th birthday to Hideo Nomo, the only pitcher to throw no-hitters before and after stints with the New York Mets.

Nomo, born August 31, 1968, in Osaka, Japan, notched his first no-no as a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday, September 17, 1996 at Coors Field. The Dodgers topped the Rockies 9-0.

Nomo’s second no-no came with the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday, April 4, 2001, when the Sox topped the Baltimore Orioles 3-0 at Camden Yards.

In between those no-hitters, Nomo appeared in 17 games with the Mets, posting a 4-5 record with a 4.82 ERA.
