Jesse ‘Nip’ Winters

Happy birthday to Jesse “Nip” Winters, who threw two Negro Leagues no-hitters.

Winters, born on this day in 1899 in Washington D.C., tossed his no-nos while pitching for the Atlantic City Bacharach Giants and Hilldale.

Winters spent the final 30 years of his life until his death in 1971 in Hockessin, Delaware. The town honored him with a historical marker in 2015, according to the Hockessin Community News.
