The San Diego Padres’ Clayton Richard took a no-hitter against the Miami Marlins into the seventh inning on Sunday before giving up a two-out single up the middle to Miguel Rojas.
Rojas’ hit at Marlins Park marked the 7,881st Padres game with no no-no dating back to the franchise’s start in 1969.
Richard stuck out five and walked three through seven innings of work, yielding an earned run on two hits. Kirby Yates and Brad Hand finished out the game with a scoreless inning apiece to secure the Padres’ 31st victory.
