The Milwaukee Braves’ Warren Spahn threw his second of two no-hitters, 58 years ago today.
On Friday, April 28, 1961, Spahn no-hit the San Francisco Giants for a 1-0 victory at Milwaukee County Stadium. Just two Giants reached first base on walks, but each was immediately sent back to the dugout on a double play. The Braves’ sole error was on a foul ball behind the plate.
Spahn’s first no-hitter was thrown seven months earlier, also at County Stadium. On Friday, September 16, 1960, Spahn no-hit the Philadelphia Phillies for a 4-0 win.
