The Arizona Diamondbacks’ Madison Bumgarner has thrown the first 7-inning doubleheader no-hitter since MLB instituted the rule in 2020.
Bumgarner no-hit the Atlanta Braves for a 7-0 victory at Truist Park in the second game of a Sunday doubleheader. Only one Braves batter reached on an error, when Ozzie Albies’ wide throw pulled off first base Freddie Freeman on a second-inning infield grounder hit by Nick Ahmed.
Bumgarner’s effort is not an official no-hitter. It joins 37 other shortened efforts, chronicled here.
The Diamondbacks also won the opener on a one-hit complete-game shutout by Zac Gallen.
Quick work on this update!
I did notice that your immaculate inning page has not been updated to include Zach Plesac’s immaculate inning Sept. 18, 2020.
Thanks for the heads-up. Just added!
