The Korea Baseball Organization has had 16 regular-season no-hitters and one postseason no-no (Jeong Myeong-won of the Hyundai Unicorns in Game 4 of the 1994 Korean Series) since the league was founded in 1981.
The KBO has had two Opening Day no-hitters (Jang Ho-yeon of the OB Bears in 1988 and Wilmer Font (9 perfect innings) and Kim Taek-hyoung (1 no-hit inning) of the SSG Landers in 2022). There has never been a KBO perfect game, but Jeong Min-chul of the Hanwha Eagles came close. His 1997 no-hitter would have been a perfect game if a batter hadn’t reached first base on a dropped third strike.
Charles Shirek, a Minot, N.D. native, is the first American to throw a Korean no-hitter.
